We CAN Name & Claim but only....

A little over a year ago I wrote a blog post called, "Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyers." You can find the link to this post on the right side of my blog page under popular posts. Through that book I was understanding the power that words have.  I was learning that I needed to get in agreement with God's word.  I was learning that I couldn't expect to have a positive life while I was thinking and speaking negativity.  In addition to this I heard sermons from Joel Osteen about declaring things in your life.  Something to the extent of "I am powerful, I am strong, I will own my own business, etc...." Speaking what you desire into existence.  In fact I just read this Joel Osteen's 30 day devotional titled "I declare."  I absolutely loved it.  I was refreshed and with a renewed mind and I was ready to start naming and claiming.  Then it happened.  My bubble got burst.

I love watching YouTube videos from fellow believers discussing Christian topics.  [You can even see some of my favorite YouTubers I recommend on your screen to the right]. One day ChaseGodTV released a video titled "Can we speak things into existence." (Watch here: ) I said oh boy here we go.  They broke it down to basically say that declaring things isn't Biblical.  What happens in our lives is not in our control but God's control.  I can agree with them on this point but I came to the conclusion that they still don't believe it's "alright" to declare things or speak words of affirmation and it is with this point that I disagree.

I strongly believe that Christians indeed can speak things into existence.  In the book of Mark ch. 11 Jesus was hungry and went to get food from a fig tree.  The tree was FULL of leaves but no figs. Therefore, Jesus spoke to the tree & said, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again." The next morning Jesus & his twelve disciples passed the tree & it was withered. Peter quickly said look the tree you cursed is withered. Jesus replied "Have faith in God...truly I tell you if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go throw yourself into the sea, and does not doubt in their heart but believes than what they say will happen, it will be done for them."

The revelation I received from this word is that the key to our words having power is faith in God & submission to HIS will.  You can speak things into the atmosphere all day everyday however, if you have no faith you can forget about it. In addition you can try to speak things into existence all day long but if it's not in God's will you can forget about it.  All the power rests in God's hand not your mouth.  When God was creating Heaven and Earth he SPOKE and said let there be light. He didn't just think or hope or say "hmmmm, I wish there was some way to get rid of this darkness." No he SPOKE it into existence. Now clearly we are not God and we do not have his power BUT I believe that as children of God we should follow this example of our Savior.  We should also SPEAK things to life while having faith and ultimately surrendering to God's will.

So what I have concluded for my life is I will continue to declare & speak positive words over & into my life.  And as I do this I will speak with faith in my God & also ultimately declaring your will Lord not mine.  As for you if you don't have peace about something don't do it. 1. It is so ironic how you post a blog such as this one sis. I watched the same video by chaseGodTV and I was torn between the two but I definitely believe in speaking in existence because of God that's in it. We are only able to anything because of God.

    1. Yes, I totally agree with what you said. It's only because of God. It has nothing to do with us.

What are your thoughts? I'd love to hear from you!
