Spiritually Dead.

What I will be sharing today will be a word that God gave specifically to me during our quiet time together.  Sometimes I blog about things that I've experienced personally. Sometimes I blog about things that I've been taught from other believers.  There are times that I blog about things that I have not picked up from anyone else but that God specifically dropped in my spirit.  Things that came directly from Him straight to my heart.  These are the exact things that I truly love and cherish the most.  You may have heard this before but this is the way God gave it to me.

I was reading Jeremiah 9:25 which says, "The days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will punish all who are circumcised in the flesh." My NLT life Application Bible explained that circumcision in the time of Abraham was a physical act.  However, true evidence of circumcision is found in your spiritual walk with God.  According to the above scripture the people of Israel were only circumcised in the flesh.  They were going through the motions and rituals of being a Christian.  Outwardly it appeared that they were living Holy lives but inside they were spiritually dead.

Ladies and gentleman this is a mirror image of some Christians today.  Actually not just some but sadly a large amount of Christians today. Some Christians are only "circumcised in the flesh." This means they profess to be a Christian but they are not "circumcised in the spirit." They are spiritually dead.  Stay with me now. These Christians have no personal relationship with God. They put on this mask and wear this title of "Christian" but their lives are producing absolutely no fruit.  Just like the fig tree in Mark ch.11. Jesus was hungry and he saw this fig tree with leaves.  So he went to get some figs from it to eat but there were no figs.  It appeared to be a fig tree but it had no figs.  So Jesus cursed it and it withered.

Are you like this fig tree? Do you proclaim to be a Christian rocking the Christian t-shirts, tweeting about God daily, attending church faithfully but have no personal relationship with God?  Outwardly just like the fig tree appeared to be a fig tree you appear to be a Christian but you have no fruit.  You look like a Christian but you don't have love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness or self-control.  You lack these things because you don't feed your sprit man.  You are spiritually dead.  As a result of not feeding your spirit you will soon wither.  You will get so weak because you don't have Jesus as your true source of strength.  Just as Jesus got close to the fig tree and saw no figs people will get close enough too you they will see you as a counterfeit christian producing no fruit.

I've been spiritually dead before.  My spirit man was dead.  I didn't party, drink, curse or club but I had no personal relationship with God.  I wore the title of Christian and I wore it well. I never missed a church service & I made it very clear that I was a sold out warrior for The Lord & everyone knew this.  What they didn't know is I hardly knew much about this Savior I believed in.  I didn't know Him personally.  We had no relationship.  Therefore, my spirit was dead as a doorknob.  However, by God's grace and a series of events my spirit man was awakened.  And I promise that I'll never allow him to die again.  Let me be honest and say that he may get weak at times as I tend to loose focus and place my to-do list above my quiet time but I won't allow him to die out. God is working on me.

You cannot expect to develop Christlike character and show love and respect to others when you don't have a relationship with God.  He develops fruit within you.  You don't develop it within yourself.  The time is now to get connected with the vine who is Christ.  The time is now to stop pretending. Let God awaken your spirit while helping you die to your flesh.  Scripture says, in John 15:5-8, "Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father." Let's get connected to the vine so we can bring God great glory.
